Glampabout is a reusable comfort system for camping: a real bed, power, cold food, a bathroom plan, and the other comforts that make camp feel less like roughing it. For more than twenty years, my wife and I ran Walkabout Travel Gear, which began in 1995. During those years we used an RV extensively as both transportation and a mobile base.
When we retired, we sold the RV. Later, when we returned to road travel, we still wanted the comfort, just not another large vehicle.
That became Glampabouting: carry the bed, power, food storage, sanitation gear, and other comforts in a normal vehicle and set them up at camp.
RV travel can be great. We did plenty of it. But an RV also brings maintenance, storage, fuel, insurance, size restrictions, and the job of driving and parking a large vehicle.
Glampabouting keeps the parts we still want at camp: a comfortable place to sleep, shelter with room to move, cold food, portable power, airflow, sanitation, and a few extras when they are worth bringing. A short trip can stay simple; a longer stay can carry more.
Travel in a normal vehicle, fit into more campgrounds, set up a comfortable camp, and pack it all back into the car when you leave.
