Glampabout grew out of real-world travel experience. For over twenty years, my wife and I ran Walkabout Travel Gear, one of the first internet businesses. During that time, we used an RV extensively as both transportation and a mobile base of operations.
When we retired from that business, we sold the RV. Returning to the road later made the tradeoffs obvious. RVs can be comfortable, but they also mean maintenance, storage, fuel, insurance, campsite restrictions, and the constant reality of operating a large vehicle.
Glampabouting is the result: keep the comfort that matters and make it portable.
RV travel can be great. It can also be expensive, limiting, and more machine than many trips require. Glampabouting is for travelers who want the useful parts of RV comfort — sleep, shelter, food storage, power, airflow, sanitation, and camp livability — without owning a rolling house.
